Pick of the Month – March: The Easter Bunny
Although Easter falls in April this year, March feels like the true beginning of the Easter season. The days are growing longer, the first flowers are appearing, and somewhere in the hedgerows the famous March Hare is already bounding about. It seems only fitting that our Pick of the Month for March celebrates the beloved Easter Bunny.

The Easter Bunny is a surprisingly old tradition. The idea is thought to have begun in parts of Germany in the 17th century, where children were told that a magical hare would visit at Easter and leave coloured eggs for well-behaved youngsters. German immigrants later carried this custom to America in the 1700s, and from there the Easter Bunny became a familiar figure in many countries. Eggs themselves have long symbolised new life and the arrival of spring, which made them a perfect companion to a lively springtime hare.

This month’s felt figure imagines the Easter Bunny as a kindly country rabbit preparing for the celebrations. She is dressed in a simple dress with a pinny and carries a bowl filled with pastel-coloured eggs, ready to be shared. The soft colours and homely details are inspired by the gentle traditions of springtime baking, egg painting and family gatherings.
Whether you think of her as the famous Easter Bunny or simply a cheerful March Hare getting ready for the season, she will bring a little touch of spring magic to your home.
